This is why various grapes can thrive, is because they are well suited to the hot climate. Grenache and Syrah are the most planted due to the climate conditions.
In the Southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du-pap is a sub-region of the Southern Rhône and the quality of wines from here is outstanding. Grenache is the main grape found in Châteauneuf-du-pap which often leads itself to give the wines red and black fruit notes along with earthy and leather flavours.
